Things we describe with comparative adjectives you can never get. Thus, you should not waste your time going after them. There is no limit to more. There is no definition of more money, fame, etc. That’s why these notions are non-conclusive. No one can achieve the state of more. Only content is conclusive because there is no such thing as more content. This is all you can ever achieve or you are welcome to be stuck in a hamster wheel where you keep chasing an ever-receding more.
This doesn’t mean that you shouldn't earn an income or shouldn’t enjoy a prosperous life. Let me share an anecdote from my freshman year in college. I was in the Perry, eating and speaking to a girl who had changed her major from accounting to computer science. I asked her why. She told me that she could earn a lot more money in CS. I inquired, “what do you wish to buy with more money?” She thought for a few moments but stayed silent. This is who you shouldn’t be. She was a hamster in a wheel, nihilistically chasing paper.
Money is a means to an end, not an end in itself. It is called “a medium of exchange”. It is not a product by itself. If you are thinking about interest rates’ being the price of money, let me say that it shouldn't have been this way. For a currency to classify as money, its value must remain constant (a store of value). If its value is variable and someone can print it, it is not sound money. Fiat currency simply isn't money. Anyway, when you attach an end to money, your goal suddenly becomes conclusive and your life suddenly has a purpose. It is no longer nihilistic. Therefore, feel free to earn. Feel free to get rich. But you must know what you want to purchase with the money you are working so hard to earn. If you want to buy nothing, skip the race. Get off the hamster wheel.
Want in an animal forever dissatisfied. Feed it. And it wants more. Only content can ever be achieved.
